Keyboard Tray

A keyboard tray adds a level of comfort to your desk by angling the keyboard at an optimal position so you don't have to bend your wrists awkwardly to type.

Convenience is something that every consumer is looking for.  That is why we walk around with smart phones, PDAs, and have just about anything we can in our home automatic.  When it comes to working at your computer desk, whether at home or the office, you want that to be convenient too.  Most desks are awkward for keyboards. You have to lift your wrists high to type while your keyboard is on the top of your desk.  Instead of this misery, you can make typing rather convenient with the use of a keyboard tray.  These trays are easily installed onto just about any type of desk and can make your typing a lot more convenient.

Keyboard trays come in a variety of options.  You can get keyboard trays that fit both your keyboard and mouse, or a tray that is built for a keyboard alone.  Some trays are ergonomic and can fit just about any shape of a keyboard, while there are others that are only suited for a standard keyboard.  Most keyboard trays can easily be installed on any type of desk.  You can find them made of wood or with metal and wood accents.  If you are looking for a more durable tray, you may be better off using a wooden keyboard tray over a metal one.  Metal will bend under weight and can come off its hinges.  Before you even purchase a keyboard tray you should measure the amount of space under your desk you have to work with.  That way you can ensure that your tray can pull in and out and still have enough elbow room for you to actually type or move a mouse on it.

You can get a keyboard tray anywhere from $20.00 to over $100.00.  Metal keyboard trays will typically be cheaper than the wooden varieties.  You can find some plastic trays, but these are usually for temporary use and will not last long.  If your tray will have custom inserts for both a keyboard and mouse you may pay more than just a large tray that is not specifically designed for any type of item.

Most keyboard trays can be purchased online and in-store.  If you are shopping in-store visit retailers such as Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Office Max, Office Depot or Staples.  When you are doing your shopping online you can visit retailers such as VersaTables, Shoplet, Overstock and Amazon.  Just always keep in mind the cost of shipping when you purchase an item online.  Some keyboard trays are long and awkward; therefore they may cost you more to ship than it is worth.

No matter what your reasons are for getting a keyboard tray, you will certainly notice how much more convenient it is when it comes to typing.  You can easily tuck away your keyboard and mouse out-of-sight when you want to work on your desk in a more traditional matter, but know that your keyboard is right there if you need it.  Since we are always looking for ways to add to our convenience levels, a tray for your keyboard would certainly be one of them.
